How to Host a Karaoke Party

Hosting only takes enthusiasm, a good sense of humor, and a love of music with friends. Follow this simple guide to ensure your karaoke party is a memorable success!

Pre-Party Preparation

Setting Up Equipment

Set up your equipment at least one hour before your guests arrive. Place your Party Jockey Sound System on a table so the sound travels at ear level for best results. Test everything and refresh yourself on how to input songs using the e-songbook. Find the optimal music volume for your room.

Configuring Background Music (Interlude)

Your TOUCH KARAOKE Party Jockey system features built-in background music (Interlude) to start the party during arrival or cocktail hour. To turn it on:

  1. Go to the main operations screen by clicking the tablet icon at the bottom of the Windows screen (behind the Karaoke Song Search Screen).
  2. Click on “Interlude” on the left to display the song list (Billboard Popular Top 100 Party Songs).
  3. Click the ON/OFF box above the list to set it to “ON”.
  4. Click the checkbox below it to select all songs, starting the music playback.

Interlude music will automatically pause whenever a karaoke song starts and resume seamlessly when the song ends.

During the Party

Helping Guests & Managing the Queue

Show guests how to use the wireless e-songbooks to search for songs by Artist or Title and reserve their spot in the Queue List electronically. If needed, enlist a karaoke-friendly guest to help demonstrate the system or introduce singers.

Running Performance Rotation

  • Announce the next singer from the Queue List and hand them the microphone.
  • The singer pushes “START” or “PLAY” on the lyrics screen when ready; Interlude stops automatically and lyrics display.
  • Adjust music volume, microphone volume, and digital echo as needed for each performer.

Party Games & Ideas

For events like birthday parties, consider adding a singing contest to break the ice. Arrange fun prizes (such as music gift cards or certificates) and judge by applause or selected judges to build a fun, engaging atmosphere.

Post-Party & Wrap Up

Before you know it, your party will be running smoothly with everyone involved. Wrap up the event by thanking your guests for sharing their talent, turn off the system equipment, and celebrate a successful night of entertainment!
